Project Overview
We are proud to showcase our work on Claydon Villa, a multi-unit residential redevelopment located at 2220 2nd Street South in Cranbrook, BC. Owned by the ʔAqantⱠanam Housing Society and overseen by Lu’ma Development Management, this vital community initiative takes a “For Indigenous, By Indigenous” approach. The project involves the careful demolition of existing buildings to make way for two modern, six-storey facilities built over two phases, eventually providing 44 affordable homes. Beyond providing essential housing, Claydon Villa is deeply committed to the community through a comprehensive Indigenous Participation Plan, which prioritizes employment, long-term career training, and subcontracting opportunities for local Indigenous workers and businesses.
Construction Management & Community
As the Construction Manager and General Contractor (GC) for the Claydon Villa project, North Mountain Construction is leading both the pre-construction and construction phases alongside our partners at Connor Construction Group Corp. Our role encompasses managing all site operations, from the initial demolition starting in early 2026 and adherence to strict environmental safety protocols, to coordinating trades and ensuring high-quality construction execution for the 22-unit Phase One. We are actively collaborating with the ʔAqantⱠanam Housing Society and Tawaw Architecture Collective to champion the goals of the Indigenous Participation Plan, fostering inclusive hiring practices that support Indigenous members, women, and underrepresented youth. Through our commitment to safety, efficiency, and community partnership, we are honored to help bring this transformative housing vision to life.
